[Movie Overview]

Japanese Title: Gaza Salon
Directors: Tarzan Nasser, Arab Nasser
Runtime: Main Feature 84 minutes, Extras 27 minutes

Gaza, Palestinian territory. The beauty salon run by Christine is bustling with many female customers.

Christine, the owner, is an immigrant from Russia. Widad, the beauty salon assistant, is in love with Ahmad, a member of the mafia, and is troubled by their relationship.

Effitikar, who is in divorce proceedings due to her husband's infidelity, is preparing for a rendezvous with her lawyer. Safia, whose husband is a soldier injured in the war, is a drug addict who regularly uses the medication prescribed to her husband.

Zeinab, a devout Muslim, has never cut her hair before and never removes her hijab, even in the women-only beauty salon.

Salma, who is having her wedding tonight, Fatima, a pregnant woman in her final month, Wafa, who suffers from severe asthma, and Sousan, who has been divorced... each has their own circumstances, but they are all strong and unique women.

The only place of respite for women in the midst of war. While they are chatting, gunshots ring out across the street. And the beauty salon is left in a fire of killing and destruction...

This film was screened at the 68th Cannes Film Festival Critics' Week and attracted a lot of attention.

This is the first feature film by the twin directors Tarzan & Arab Nasser, who were born and raised in Gaza, and it depicts women living in an extreme everyday life of war in a single-location setting.

It is a shocking work that beautifully portrays the fear of people caught up in the fighting and held captive.
