Margaret Mee was captivated by the flora of the Amazon River basin, returning fourteen times after her initial visit in 1952 to paint illustrations of tropical plants and flowers directly from nature. This book serves as the catalog for a three-year traveling exhibition of her pencil and gouache illustrations of Amazonian vegetation. The color reproductions closely match the originals in form, contour, hue, and saturation.
