The Blatz Brewing Company was established in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1851 by Valentin Blatz. It holds the distinction of being the first brewery in Milwaukee to bottle its beer for wider distribution and was one of the city's major breweries. The company operated independently until 1959 when its label was sold to the Pabst Brewing Company. Today, the Blatz beer brand is produced by the Miller Brewing Company under contract for Pabst
